Mowi ASA has announced a strategic and industrial alliance with Skretting, the aquaculture feed division of Nutreco, focused on feed formulation, operational efficiency, and long-term supply coordination.
Under the agreement, aquaculture feed will be produced using Skretting’s formulations while continuing to use Mowi Feed’s existing production capacity. The companies said the structure is designed to improve formulation performance, purchasing efficiency, and logistics across the feed supply chain.
The alliance is expected to deliver annual net savings of more than 650 million Norwegian kroner, equivalent to around €55 million. A combined EBITDA exceeding 1.47 billion Norwegian kroner by 2026 is projected, supported by scale efficiencies and tighter integration across production and sourcing.
Mowi confirmed it will retain its own feed production facilities in Norway and Scotland, maintaining internal manufacturing while accessing Skretting’s nutritional expertise, research capability, and sourcing network. The companies said this approach allows Mowi to remain active across the value chain while improving cost control and operational consistency.
Both companies noted that food formulation has become increasingly complex in recent years, increasing the importance of nutritional knowledge and R&D in aquaculture feed. The partnership builds on a long-standing relationship between Mowi and Skretting and is intended to support continued innovation in feed development.
Mowi chief executive Ivan Vindheim said the alliance followed a strategic review of the group’s feed operations and was selected as the preferred option to secure access to high-quality feed at competitive cost while reinforcing Mowi’s position in global aquaculture.
The companies said the collaboration will support stable feed supply and consistent standards across salmon and other aquaculture species.
