Thailand-based Siam Toppan Packaging Co., Ltd. has won a WorldStar Packaging Award 2026 for a recyclable chocolate packaging design created for One More Thai Craft Chocolates.

The award was presented during interpack 2026 in Germany, one of the packaging industry’s largest international trade events.

The packaging was recognized in the Toys category of the WorldStar Packaging Awards, organized by the World Packaging Organisation (WPO). It marks the seventh WorldStar award for Siam Toppan, which is part of Japan’s TOPPAN Holdings Inc. group.

The chocolate box was designed for a craft chocolate brand based in southern Thailand. Inspired by Nang Talung shadow puppet theatre, the carton transforms into a small theatre play set after use.

The front of the package includes a three-layer theatre stage design. Consumers can tear out six traditional puppet characters along perforated lines after eating the chocolate, allowing the box to be reused as a toy or decorative display.

The packaging was also developed with sustainability goals in mind.

According to the company, the structure uses paper-only materials and avoids plastic windows to improve recyclability. The square-shaped design was also intended to improve transport and storage efficiency during distribution.

The project highlights how packaging manufacturers are increasingly combining sustainability targets with consumer engagement and regional storytelling.

Across the wider Thailand packaging and Asia FMCG sector, brands are placing more focus on reusable carton formats, recyclable retail packaging, and premium gifting presentation as retailers and suppliers respond to stricter environmental expectations.

Packaging awards such as the WorldStar program are also becoming more important for companies looking to demonstrate innovation in materials, logistics efficiency, and shelf appeal.

The WorldStar Packaging Awards are organized annually by the World Packaging Organisation and recognize packaging developments across categories including sustainability, functionality, design, and technical performance.

For Siam Toppan, the latest recognition strengthens its position in high-end folding carton manufacturing and sustainable packaging development across regional FMCG markets.

As sustainability pressure continues growing across the global packaging sector, more manufacturers are expected to invest in recyclable mono-material packaging, reusable retail formats, and culturally localized branding concepts for premium food and gifting products.
