Greencore has raised its full-year profit forecast after reporting stronger manufacturing volumes and new supermarket food ranges across the UK. The convenience-food supplier now expects approximately £248 million in adjusted operating profit from continuing operations for the year ended 25 September 2026.
The company issued the update on 13 October. Its previous guidance was £234 million to £242 million, while the market consensus referenced by Greencore was £238 million. The new guidance relates to the continuing UK business; its US operation is classified as held for sale.
Greencore reported fourth-quarter pro forma revenue of £1.036 billion, up 4.5%. Full-year pro forma revenue grew 3.6% to £3.378 billion. These pro forma figures account for the enlarged business following its acquisition of Bakkavor and should not be confused with statutory reported revenue.
Manufactured volumes grew 2.1% in the fourth quarter, compared with estimated growth of 0.5% across the wider grocery market. Full-year volume growth was 1.1%, also ahead of the market benchmark.
Strong categories included salads, dips, quiche and sandwiches. For supermarket buyers, that points to continuing demand for chilled convenience products even as shoppers remain sensitive to price. The result also shows how range development and distribution can matter alongside promotional pricing.
Greencore introduced 167 products during the fourth quarter, including Italian ready meals, summer sandwiches and salads, and limited-edition macaroni cheese ranges. The pace of launches highlights the operational importance of product development, production scheduling and reliable fresh-food delivery.
The group also reported progress integrating Bakkavor, which it acquired in January. It cited purchasing, central organisation and distribution efficiencies, while identifying further cross-selling opportunities in salads, ready meals, dips and bread.
Greencore says new business wins represent approximately £30 million in annualised revenue, scheduled to launch across the second and third quarters of its 2027 financial year. The company separately noted that its first combined dessert wins began reaching customers in August.
Those numbers matter to food suppliers and packaging companies because a larger convenience-food manufacturer can consolidate purchasing while seeking to offer retailers more categories through existing customer relationships. Any resulting changes to individual suppliers’ terms, however, have not been disclosed.
Year-end net debt, excluding leases, is expected to be about £600 million. Greencore continues working towards a medium-term leverage target of between 1.0 and 1.5 times net debt to adjusted EBITDA.
GTN previously reported on Greencore’s completion of the Bakkavor acquisition. The latest trading update offers the first clearer indication of volume and commercial progress across the combined business.
Greencore will publish its full-year results on 1 December 2026, when the company expects to provide more detail on margins, integration and its wider capital plans.
