AgroFresh Solutions, Inc. has announced two new global partnerships with Aerobotics and Neolithics, expanding its digital FreshCloud™ platform with advanced AI imaging and analysis tools for the fresh produce industry.

The company, based in Philadelphia, said the new integrations will make FreshCloud the most connected digital ecosystem in post-harvest management, helping growers, packers, and retailers reduce waste and improve quality across the supply chain.

Through its collaboration with Aerobotics, AgroFresh will use the firm’s TrueFruit® technology to bring AI-powered orchard and packing analysis directly into FreshCloud. Using smartphone imaging and machine learning, TrueFruit® can precisely measure fruit size, color, and quality, helping producers forecast yield and optimize harvest timing. The system offers accuracy that can improve packout efficiency by up to 5%, with potential returns of over ten times the initial investment.

The partnership with Neolithics™ will strengthen post-harvest quality inspection. Neolithics’ non-destructive AI scanning technology checks internal and external fruit quality at industrial speed — from one kilogram per minute in berries to six tonnes per hour in avocados. It detects hidden defects and measures parameters such as sweetness, acidity, and dry matter, ensuring consistent quality without damaging any product.

AgroFresh said combining these technologies allows real-time quality control from orchard to shelf, creating a digital link between growers, packers, and retail buyers. It builds on existing partnerships with Rubens Technologies, Strella, and Escavox — part of AgroFresh’s strategy to create a fully connected sensor and data ecosystem for perishable supply chains.

Bradford Warner, head of Digital Solutions at AgroFresh, said the goal is to build “the most holistic and connected digital platform” in the fresh produce sector.

Why It Matters

For supermarkets and fresh produce suppliers, these integrations offer new tools to reduce waste, improve consistency, and maintain quality across long-distance supply chains. As AI systems like FreshCloud™ become more common, retailers gain better visibility from farm to store, supporting more reliable sourcing and fresher products for shoppers.
