Packaging supplier Aptar has secured an “A” score in the CDP Climate Change Assessment for the second consecutive year, placing the US-based group among the top performers for environmental disclosure and climate action in 2025.
The recognition puts Aptar on CDP’s global “A List”, a ranking that represents the top 4% of companies assessed worldwide. More than 22,000 companies submitted environmental data to CDP during the latest reporting cycle.
The company said the result reflects progress on emissions reduction, climate risk management, and transparency across its global operations.
Aptar has set science-based targets covering Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions aligned with the 1.5°C climate pathway, alongside renewable electricity goals and Scope 3 targets. These commitments have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative.
The group has also expanded renewable energy sourcing through power purchase agreements in both Europe and the United States. In parallel, Aptar strengthened its climate risk reporting in line with Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures standards.
The company confirmed it has increased renewable electricity usage across multiple production sites and achieved ISO 14046 certification linked to greenhouse gas emissions management.
Why It Matters
For packaging buyers and retail supply chains, sustainability performance is becoming a core supplier selection factor.
Supermarkets and FMCG brands are under rising pressure to cut Scope 3 emissions. Packaging suppliers with verified climate targets and strong disclosure standards are increasingly favoured in long-term contracts.
Aptar’s CDP “A” score strengthens its position across regulated markets such as the US packaging sector, where environmental compliance, carbon reporting, and recycled-content targets continue to tighten.
For retailers, partnerships with suppliers that meet international climate benchmarks help reduce regulatory risk and support corporate sustainability commitments.
The result also reflects a wider shift in the packaging industry, where energy efficiency, renewable sourcing, and transparent reporting are moving from optional initiatives to commercial requirements.
