Ahold Delhaize has announced that Petr Pavlik will step down as Brand President of Albert in the Czech Republic, with the transition effective immediately.

The company said Pavlik is leaving to pursue opportunities outside the business. He only returned to Ahold Delhaize in 2025, having previously held a senior leadership role within the group between 2016 and 2020.

Ahold Delhaize confirmed that a search for a permanent successor is now underway. In the meantime, Jesper Lauridsen, currently COO for the company’s Central and Southeast Europe region, will take over the role on an interim basis.

The leadership change comes at a time when Albert remains a key supermarket brand in the Czech market, operating across a mix of urban supermarkets and convenience formats. The business sits within Ahold Delhaize’s wider European portfolio, which includes multiple local retail brands across the Benelux and Central Europe.

Pavlik’s tenure focused on commercial performance, marketing, and store format development. His departure creates a short-term leadership gap, with operational continuity now dependent on regional management until a new brand president is appointed.

For suppliers and retail partners, the transition may signal a period of strategic review, particularly around category management and private label positioning in the Czech market.

Why it matters

Leadership changes at brand level can directly affect how a supermarket operates day to day. Pricing decisions, supplier negotiations, and in-store execution often shift with new leadership priorities.

For the Czech retail market, Albert plays a significant role in shaping competition, especially in private label and value positioning. Any change at the top can influence how the brand responds to pressure from discount chains and regional competitors.

Ahold Delhaize has not given a timeline for the appointment of a permanent successor.
