Ahold Delhaize has appointed Xavier Piesvaux as Country Manager Romania, effective 1 January 2026.
He will report directly to Claude Sarrailh, CEO of Ahold Delhaize Europe & Indonesia.
Xavier will relocate to Romania and lead the expansion and transformation of the company’s local brands, Mega Image and Profi.
Brand Presidents Mircea Moga (Mega Image) and Mihai Spulber (Profi) will report to him.
Leadership Shift After Profi Acquisition
Ahold Delhaize said that under the leadership of Jesper Lauridsen, Chief Operating Officer for Central and Southeastern Europe, the group acquired Profi at the beginning of 2025.
The two Romanian brands have delivered strong performance and built the foundations for further integration.
Jesper will continue to lead Greece, Serbia and the Czech Republic together with local teams.
A Dynamic Market
Claude Sarrailh said Romania is “one of the most dynamic markets” in the group’s portfolio, with a loyal customer base and strong opportunities for growth.
He said Xavier brings a proven track record in transformational change.
Returning To Romania
Xavier previously served as Brand President of Mega Image from 2006 to 2015, leading rapid expansion in the country.
He later rejoined Ahold Delhaize in 2017 as Brand President of Delhaize Belgium, where he focused on fresh and healthy products and moved the brand toward a 100% affiliated store network.
He said he is “thrilled” to contribute to the acceleration of sustainable growth in Romania and looks forward to working closely with local teams.
