Aldi has launched what it calls the world’s first lickable pigs-in-blankets wrapping paper, adding a novelty twist to its Christmas 2025 range.
The limited-edition paper is available through an exclusive shopper competition from 24 November, and ties directly to the retailer’s new Specially Selected Double Wrapped Pigs in Blankets, which recently won a Good Housekeeping Christmas 2025 award.
Aldi says its new product is designed to look, smell and taste like the festive favourite. The pastel-pink design includes holly and snowflake patterns, plus stickers that lift to reveal the edible feature. It is being offered as a free seasonal extra rather than a paid item on shelves.
The launch arrives as consumer research suggests the UK will eat more than 560 million pigs in blankets this Christmas, with the average person consuming close to 10. Aldi positions the wrapping paper as a playful addition to a category that has become one of the most competitive parts of holiday meal ranges.
The retailer is also promoting tips for wrapping gifts using the new paper. These include a method for measuring paper using ribbon, a toilet-roll technique for small gifts, a diagonal approach for awkward shapes, and a layered craft-paper style for larger items. A set of suggestions is being shared to help shoppers use the limited design across a wider range of presents.
The wrapping paper is linked to Aldi’s latest pigs-in-blankets lineup, which includes several variants priced between £1.99 and £2.99. The new Double Wrapped version comes with an added rasher of bacon, and the range also features a cheese variant and the Ultimate Pigs in Blankets line.
Shoppers can claim a roll of the limited paper by entering the retailer’s competition. Entrants are asked to email their details to a dedicated address. Aldi is encouraging customers to apply early due to limited availability.
The promotion forms part of the supermarket’s wider Christmas push, which mixes new seasonal products with marketing designed to appeal to younger consumers and social-media audiences. Novelty items have become common in the Christmas period, and retailers often look for ways to stand out as the season becomes more crowded.
Aldi is positioning the edible wrapping paper as a simple way to bring extra attention to its festive food offer at a time when shoppers are finalising plans for December. The company is also directing customers to its press centre and online range pages for further information.
The retailer continues to invest in seasonal theatre, and the pigs-in-blankets category remains one of the strongest areas of Christmas food sales in the UK. This latest launch reflects the rising trend of playful, limited-run items that support brand visibility during the busiest trading period of the year.
