Alnatura ended its 2024/25 financial year with strong growth and major investment plans across Germany.

The organic retailer reported turnover of €1.274 billion, up 6.6% on the previous year. Management said the increase reflects steady customer loyalty in a market where shoppers are looking closely at value, quality and availability.

The company highlighted that more shoppers are choosing organic ranges as part of their weekly shop. Alnatura also kept its leading position in national customer satisfaction studies, finishing first among organic supermarkets for the fourth year in a row.

Alnatura said its next phase of growth will focus on logistics, digital systems and a wider store footprint.

The retailer will open a new 30,000-square-metre logistics centre in Groß-Rohrheim in summer 2026. The site will use heat pumps, photovoltaic panels and local building materials, with the goal of achieving DGNB Platinum certification. It will supply stores across Germany, while the Lorsch centre continues to serve external retail partners.

The new warehouse design reflects the wider push towards lower-impact retail operations in the German market. like the way we explain in our article sustainability in German supermarkets, where logistics and energy use remain a priority area.

Alnatura is also increasing digital investment. Its ERP system will migrate from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA by Easter 2026, and the business is building a new customer-facing digital platform to support a connected, omnichannel experience.

These upgrades place Alnatura alongside other German retailers investing in automation, data tools and modern back-office systems. Readers can find more context in our analysis of retail technology in German supermarkets, where digital transformation is reshaping store operations.

Store expansion continues as well. Alnatura plans eight new openings in the current financial year, including locations in Ingolstadt, Kiel, Düsseldorf, Berlin, Tübingen and Königstein. A new store opened today in Hamburg-Barmbek, bringing the Hamburg total to nine.

Alongside new openings, several sites in Mannheim, Berlin, Regensburg, Darmstadt and Filderstadt are undergoing major renovation. Many stores will receive updated layouts, expanded fresh departments and more space for core organic ranges.

Alnatura also reported progress in store technology. Forty shops were fitted with self-checkout tills last year, and more installations are planned as customer demand for faster, flexible checkout options grows.

The retailer continues to invest in people and organic farming partnerships. The training rate reached 6.5%, and minimum wages increased to €15.00 in October. The Alnatura Organic Farmers’ Initiative supported 131 farms in converting to organic agriculture between 2015 and 2025, covering around 21,000 hectares.

With strong sales, new capacity in logistics, and a renewed push into digital retailing, Alnatura enters the new financial year with one of its largest investment programmes to date.
