Asda is preparing for a sharp rise in ice cream sales as warmer weather and the Bank Holiday weekend drive higher demand across the United Kingdom grocery market.

The supermarket said searches for ice cream on Asda.com increased by more than 900% ahead of the expected mini heatwave, with shoppers turning to supermarket frozen desserts as a lower-cost alternative to eating out.

Asda highlighted its own-brand frozen range as part of the seasonal push, including the ASDA Soft Scoop Vanilla Ice Cream and ASDA Ice Cream Cones range. The retailer said customers can make a cone at home for less than 14p using the products.

The announcement also included new additions to Asda’s private label frozen dessert portfolio.

New Loaded Ice Cream Tubs are launching in Cookie Dough, Caramelised Biscuit, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, and Mango & Passion Fruit flavours. The retailer also expanded its premium Exceptional by Asda range with Strawberry & Cornish Clotted Cream and Sicilian Lemon Meringue varieties.

Asda additionally introduced a new Raspberry Sorbet product as retailers continue broadening frozen dessert assortments ahead of the summer trading period.

The retailer is also promoting branded frozen products through a “Any 2 for £4” promotion covering products including Calippo Mini Strawberry and Rowntree’s Fruit Pastilles Berries lollies.

The update comes as supermarkets across the UK continue using frozen desserts and seasonal categories to attract shoppers during warmer weather periods while maintaining pressure on value positioning.

The latest launch also reflects how Asda continues investing in its wider uk private label strategy as retailers expand own-brand ranges across frozen food categories to improve margins and strengthen customer loyalty.

Asda also referenced recent pricing competition in the UK grocery sector, noting that Which? named the retailer the UK’s cheapest supermarket for branded groceries in April.

The retailer said the full ice cream and frozen dessert range is now available online and in stores ahead of the Bank Holiday and half-term period.
