Gerresheimer AG has announced that Uwe Röhrhoff will take over as interim Chief Executive Officer, effective November 1, 2025. He replaces Dietmar Siemssen, who is stepping down as CEO by mutual agreement with the Supervisory Board after seven years in the role.
Röhrhoff is no stranger to the company. He worked at Gerresheimer for more than 26 years, including serving as CEO from 2010 to 2017. Most recently, he has been an advisor and board member at several industrial companies. His return marks a period of transition for the German-based manufacturer, which supplies packaging and medical systems to the pharma, biotech, and cosmetic industries.
The appointment completes a wider change in Gerresheimer’s Management Board. In September 2025, Wolf Lehmann replaced Dr. Bernd Metzner as CFO. From November 1, 2025, Achim Schalk will also join the board, succeeding Dr. Lukas Burkhard.
Under Dietmar Siemssen’s leadership, Gerresheimer moved from being a traditional packaging supplier to a systems and solutions provider, focusing on higher-value components such as inhalers, auto-injectors, drug-delivery systems, and digital therapy tools. The company now operates more than 40 production sites across 16 countries and generated €2.4 billion in revenue in 2024.
Why It Matters For The Retail And Packaging Sector
Gerresheimer’s work goes beyond pharmaceuticals. Many of its bottles, vials, and dispensers are used by consumer health and beauty brands, which often supply supermarket and drugstore chains. Leadership stability at the company means continued progress in packaging safety, sustainability, and regional manufacturing, all important factors for FMCG suppliers and private-label producers.
For retailers and wholesalers, changes at major packaging partners like Gerresheimer can influence supply reliability and packaging innovation across everyday consumer goods — from cough syrup and vitamins to personal-care products found in supermarket aisles.
With Röhrhoff’s return, Gerresheimer is expected to maintain its focus on innovation and long-term growth, ensuring a smooth handover while reinforcing its role as a trusted supplier in global consumer-health packaging.
