Verallia reported third-quarter 2026 revenue of €828.5 million, down 2.1% year on year, as softer European demand for glass bottles weighed on the packaging group’s performance.

The French glass-packaging manufacturer announced the results on 27 October 2026. Organic revenue fell 3.1%, while adjusted EBITDA declined to €171.9 million from €180.5 million a year earlier. Its adjusted EBITDA margin narrowed to 20.8%, compared with 21.3%.

Revenue for the first nine months of 2026 reached €2.53 billion, a decline of 1.6%.

Demand remained uneven across Verallia’s main food and beverage markets. Wine bottles faced pressure, particularly in France and Iberia, while beer packaging showed greater resilience. Food jars and spirits packaging recorded growth over the first nine months.

For supermarkets and food manufacturers, the figures highlight the different pressures facing glass-packaging categories. Slower wine demand can reduce orders for bottles, while food jars and other formats may be supported by different consumption and production trends.

Verallia also reported improving performance in Germany following measures to adjust manufacturing capacity. The company is balancing lower demand in parts of its European business with efforts to protect margins and cash generation.

Despite the softer third quarter, Verallia maintained its 2026 outlook, including approximately €700 million in adjusted EBITDA and free cash flow of around €220 million, excluding specified restructuring payments.

The results add a fresh financial reference point for the French packaging industry and the wider European packaging supply chain, where glass producers are adapting capacity to changing beverage and food demand.

Editor’s Note: Based on Verallia’s third-quarter financial results dated 27 October 2026. The key issue for food and beverage suppliers is the contrast between weak wine-bottle demand and more resilient packaging categories, alongside the group’s unchanged full-year outlook.
