Oppy has opened a new purpose-built facility in south Calgary, expanding its footprint in Western Canada as demand for logistics, storage, and value-added services continues to grow.
The site is 50% larger than its previous Calgary location, giving the fresh-produce company more room to manage rising volume across the Prairies.
The move follows the expiry of the former lease, with no option to expand, prompting Oppy to shift into a space designed for efficiency and future growth.
Why It Matters
The new Oppy Calgary facility is now a bigger hub for cold storage, packing, bagging, grading, and ripening — all services that directly shape produce availability for Canadian supermarkets.
The facility includes updated packing lines, specialized ripening systems, and optimized cooling layouts to improve product flow as shipments increase.
Oppy also plans to scale its workforce in Calgary, adding around six more roles as demand for third-party logistics and Oppy Transport services rises.
Energy-efficient lighting, EV chargers, and room for automation investment support the company’s sustainability and long-term infrastructure plans in Western Canada.
This expansion positions Oppy to support retailers across Alberta and the wider region with stronger service capacity, faster response times, and more operational flexibility.
