ALDI Germany Own Brands Win Top Marks in December Quality Tests

Mondelēz Issues Limited RITZ Recall in Eight U.S. States

ALDI’s private-label products have ended the year on a strong note, earning high ratings from both Stiftung Warentest and ÖKO-TEST. The ALDI Germany private label test results for December 2025 show multiple wins across chocolate, seasonal bakery and household goods.

Stiftung Warentest reviewed 22 milk chocolate bars with 30 to 45 percent cocoa.
The testers looked at taste, microbiological quality and packaging.
ALDI’s MOSER ROTH premium milk chocolate scored “Good (2.4)”, standing out for its rich milk flavour and slow, creamy melt. The result puts ALDI ahead of well-known brands including Milka and Tony’s Chocolonely.

ÖKO-TEST also examined 18 types of gingerbread for nut content, flavourings, ingredients and mineral oil traces.
ALDI’s WINTERTRAUM Fine Nuremberg wafer gingerbread in dark chocolate received a “Good” rating. Testers highlighted its low mineral oil content and a high nut percentage of 14 percent. Priced at €2.29 for a 200-gram pack, it was one of the most affordable gingerbread products reviewed this season.

In household products, ÖKO-TEST tested 19 baking papers.
ALDI’s POWERFORCE baking paper earned a “Very Good” rating, outperforming well-known competitors like Vileda. The test praised the paper’s clean ingredients and low cost — around 3 cents per sheet — making it one of the strongest household value items this year.

Together, these results underline the consistency of ALDI’s quality-to-price promise.
The chain’s private labels now routinely match or beat national brands in independent tests.
That performance remains a key factor in how shoppers choose products during the Christmas season, when baking, gifting and festive grocery spending all rise.

“The latest results also reflect the broader rise of private label in German supermarkets, where value-focused ranges have gained momentum across multiple categories.”

Why It Matters

The ALDI private label test results highlight how strong store brands continue to reshape holiday categories.
Winning against major brands in chocolate, gingerbread and household staples reinforces ALDI’s position in Germany’s competitive private-label market.
For suppliers and retailers, the message is clear: value, quality and independent test performance now guide shopper trust more than brand heritage.
