Why Is Meat Important In This Announcement?

Meat accounts for 27% of spending on fresh products, according to ALDI’s Fresh Produce Observatory. The retailer said all fresh meat sold in its Spanish stores is sourced nationally.

Products come from regions such as Catalonia, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León, Aragón, Extremadura and Galicia. Nine out of ten meat products carry an animal welfare certification seal.

What About Fish And Sustainability?

ALDI said a large part of its fish and seafood range carries sustainability certification. The retailer has included products with the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) blue label since 2009.

It also works with certifications such as ASC, the EU ecolabel and GLOBALG.A.P.
