EDEKA has launched a nationwide grocery discount campaign in Germany, reducing prices by 17 cents on more than 50 everyday products until 30 June 2026.
The retailer said the campaign is designed to help consumers facing continued pressure from energy prices and fuel costs. Discounts are available through the EDEKA app and the Marktkauf app.
Products included in the promotion cover multiple high-demand grocery categories, including pasta, milk, butter, yogurt, rice, flour, sugar, cheese, eggs, and bread.
Examples include GUT&GÜNSTIG pasta reduced from €0.69 to €0.52, GUT&GÜNSTIG natural yogurt reduced from €0.89 to €0.72, and Haribo fruit gums reduced from €1.19 to €1.02.
According to EDEKA, the company is investing a seven-figure sum into the campaign.
Markus Mosa, CEO of EDEKA ZENTRALE Stiftung & Co. KG, said the retailer wanted to create direct and transparent price relief for customers during everyday shopping.
The campaign also highlights the growing role of supermarket apps in pricing strategies and customer retention across the German grocery market. By linking discounts to digital platforms, retailers continue pushing app adoption while competing more aggressively on value positioning.
Why it matters
The Germany supermarket sector remains highly competitive as retailers continue responding to inflation pressure, higher operating costs, and cautious consumer spending.
Large supermarket groups are increasingly using targeted discount campaigns, loyalty apps, and private label pricing to protect market share and maintain customer traffic.
The inclusion of GUT&GÜNSTIG products also reflects how private label continues playing a central role in Germany supermarket pricing strategy during 2026.
