Kirin Holdings has received the highest “Supplier Engagement Leader” rating from CDP for the eighth consecutive year as the company continues expanding its climate and supply chain sustainability programs across its global operations.
The Japanese beverage and FMCG group also secured an “A List” rating for Water Security in fiscal year 2025, according to the company announcement published on May 25.
The CDP Supplier Engagement Assessment evaluates how companies manage climate-related risks across supplier networks. The assessment focuses on governance, climate targets, Scope 3 emissions management, and value chain engagement.
Kirin said its environmental strategy is tied closely to reducing greenhouse gas emissions across its wider supply chain, particularly in agriculture and raw material sourcing. The company launched its “Kirin Supply Chain Environmental Program” in 2024 to work directly with suppliers on emissions reductions and sustainability improvements.
The company also confirmed it regained SBT Net-Zero certification in March 2026 after setting new FLAG targets linked to forestry, land use, and agriculture.
Kirin stated that climate change, biodiversity protection, water security, and packaging sustainability remain central parts of its long-term environmental strategy under the Kirin Group Environmental Vision 2050.
The announcement highlights how major FMCG manufacturers are facing increasing pressure to improve environmental reporting and supplier transparency across global food and beverage supply chains.
Many supermarket groups and retail buyers are now asking suppliers to provide stronger emissions reporting, renewable energy commitments, and sustainability compliance data as climate-related procurement standards tighten across international retail markets.
The company also said it is expanding biodiversity and natural capital research through projects linked to the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures framework and collaborative environmental assessments with academic partners.
The latest recognition strengthens Kirin’s position among large multinational beverage manufacturers increasing investment in long-term supply chain sustainability programs across the wider Japan FMCG sector.
