TOKYO, Japan — Toyo Seikan Group Holdings has signed a supporting partner agreement for the 2026 J.League All-Star DAZN Cup and will use the event to demonstrate packaging recycling and composting initiatives at MUFG Stadium on June 13.
As part of the partnership, the company will provide paper cups and paper food containers, collect used packaging, and conduct a demonstration project aimed at composting food containers made with biodegradable plastic. The initiative is designed to promote resource recycling and reduce waste generated during major sporting events.
Toyo Seikan will supply 17,000 paper cups manufactured with biomass-based polyethylene lamination. The cups have been produced exclusively for the tournament and feature branding from both the J.League All-Star DAZN Cup and Toyo Seikan Group.
The company will also test a composting system for paper food containers used in the VIP lounge. Unlike conventional food containers that use standard plastic linings, the containers supplied for the trial are coated with plant-derived biodegradable plastic designed to break down under suitable composting conditions.

To support recycling efforts, Toyo Seikan will install two Re-CUP WASHER machines inside the stadium. Developed by a group company, the equipment allows visitors to wash used paper cups before disposal, helping improve recycling quality and encouraging participation in waste reduction programs.
Dedicated paper cup collection boxes will also be placed throughout the food truck area and sections of the concourse. Visitors will be encouraged to separate and return used cups as part of a circular recycling system.
The initiative supports the J.League’s wider environmental objectives through its participation in international sustainability programs focused on reducing the environmental impact of sports events.
The project highlights growing interest in Japan packaging solutions that support recycling, composting, and waste reduction at large public venues. Through the event, Toyo Seikan aims to evaluate a complete collection, washing, recycling, and composting process for foodservice packaging.
The company said it will continue developing resource-circulation systems that can contribute to a more sustainable society through packaging recycling initiatives at stadiums and other public venues.
