Amcor expands de-icing packaging with rigid and flexible formats

Amcor expands de-icing packaging formats in Europe

Amcor has expanded its de-icing product packaging range, adding combined rigid and flexible formats to support industrial salt suppliers and winter maintenance distribution from its European base in Zurich.

The move strengthens Amcor’s ability to supply multiple packaging formats through one production network, targeting durability, cold-weather performance, and recycled material integration.

The updated portfolio includes rigid rectangular containers, jerry cans, and trigger spray bottles alongside flexible bag formats designed for 1kg to 25kg industrial and retail applications.

Rectangular containers are engineered for stacking efficiency and safe storage. They can be produced using up to 100% post-consumer recycled plastic and feature resealable lids and integrated handles to support warehouse handling and outdoor use.

Amcor’s jerry can range is positioned for chemical and de-icing applications, using controlled-dispense closures and secure locking systems to improve transport safety across winter logistics networks. These packs can also be supplied as refill solutions for larger bulk containers.

Trigger spray packaging has been adapted with all-plastic pump components to reduce corrosion risk and improve recyclability. Custom nozzle configurations allow suppliers to tailor dispensing performance for different surface treatment applications.

Flexible packaging formats support vertical and form-fill-seal systems and are designed to limit moisture exposure that can cause salt clumping. High tear resistance and puncture protection improve durability during cold storage, transport, and retail handling. Recycle-ready film structures can include recycled content.

For buyers managing seasonal supply peaks, the expanded offering improves sourcing flexibility while maintaining packaging performance standards required for harsh winter operating conditions.

The update also strengthens Switzerland packaging production capabilities, reinforcing the country’s role as a regional hub for advanced industrial packaging development serving European infrastructure and maintenance supply chains.

Why It Matters

De-icing products play a critical role in winter retail, municipal, and infrastructure supply chains. Packaging quality affects transport efficiency, worker safety, shelf stability, and product performance in extreme conditions.

By combining rigid and flexible formats under one supplier platform, Amcor reduces procurement complexity for industrial salt producers and distributors while supporting recycled content targets and upcoming European packaging compliance requirements.

Amcor said it will continue expanding packaging systems designed for high-stress industrial environments, positioning its European operations to support growing seasonal demand across winter maintenance and infrastructure supply markets.
