Italmark upgrades supply chain planning with RELEX

Italian supermarket chain Italmark is upgrading its supply chain planning across its store and distribution network, aiming to improve grocery and fresh food availability while strengthening control over inventory and waste.

The Northern Italy retailer is deploying integrated forecasting and replenishment across around 100 stores and four distribution centres, replacing largely manual processes as the business continues to scale.

Headquartered in Lombardy, Italmark operates medium- and large-format supermarkets with a strong focus on fresh categories and locally sourced products. As volumes increased, the group identified the need for more consistent governance of replenishment and clearer measurement of supply chain performance.

The new system will automate forecasting and replenishment across a large number of SKUs, creating aligned store- and DC-level plans. Italmark expects this to support higher service levels in grocery and fresh food, while reducing waste and improving stock accuracy.

Distribution operations are managed by Italbrix, which will use the platform to coordinate planning across stores and distribution centres. This is intended to standardise processes across the network and give management better visibility of key operational KPIs.

The rollout also creates a foundation for future development in assortment and promotions planning, areas that are becoming increasingly data-driven across the Italy supermarket sector as retailers seek tighter execution without adding complexity in stores.

Italmark selected RELEX Solutions based on its experience in grocery retail and its track record with Italian operators. The unified platform brings forecasting, replenishment, and performance monitoring into a single planning environment.

Management said the move is designed to improve consistency across stores, enable faster response to demand changes, and support more disciplined execution in fresh categories.
