M&S Opens New Bath Flagship with Expanded Foodhall

Marks & Spencer has opened a new flagship store in Bath, upgrading its city-centre presence as part of a wider UK store renewal programme.

The 83,000 sq ft store at SouthGate Bath replaces M&S’s former Stall Street location and opened on 4 February 2026. It brings together food, fashion, home and beauty across four floors, with food retail positioned at the centre of the new format.

The ground floor is anchored by a 14,000 sq ft fresh market-style foodhall, significantly larger than the previous store. The range includes fresh produce from M&S Select Farms, new product launches, an expanded frozen offer, and core value lines such as Remarksable Value and Bigger Pack Better Value. The Flower Shop has also been expanded to triple its former size.

An in-store bakery and coffee counter provides takeaway hot and cold drinks, bread and pastries, supporting food-to-go and convenience missions. A separate 140-seat M&S Coffee Shop offers a full breakfast and lunch menu, strengthening the store’s foodservice proposition.

Three upper floors are dedicated to fashion, featuring Autograph womenswear and Jaeger menswear, alongside Click & Collect and Travel Money services. A 1,600 sq ft beauty hall introduces new third-party brands alongside established M&S beauty ranges. The top floor focuses on curated homeware, including the M&S x Kelly Hoppen collection.

The Bath opening is one of more than 20 new or renewed stores M&S plans to launch across the UK in the second half of the current financial year. The strategy reflects a broader shift across the UK supermarket sector, where retailers are investing in larger, food-led stores that combine fresh food, convenience and foodservice to drive frequent visits.

The store employs around 280 colleagues and is operated in partnership with British Land, which confirmed the opening completes the current leasing phase at the SouthGate development.

M&S said the new Bath flagship reflects its long-term commitment to city-centre retail, with expanded foodhalls playing a growing role in store investment decisions.
