Saputo Inc. has released its 2026 Saputo Promise Report, outlining progress across sustainability, responsible sourcing, nutrition, workplace safety, and emissions reduction initiatives across its global dairy operations.

The Canada-based dairy processor said the report reflects its long-term operational and ESG priorities as the company continues expanding sustainability integration across its business network in North America, the UK, Australia, and other international markets.

The 2026 Saputo Promise Report highlighted improvements in greenhouse gas emissions, food waste diversion, employee safety, nutrition targets, and community engagement programs.

Focus on emissions, sourcing, and dairy operations

Saputo reported a 7% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions compared with FY25 and a 26% reduction from its FY20 baseline.

The company also maintained a 99% diversion rate for organic waste, sludge, and brine across operations. More than 1.5 million kilograms of surplus food were distributed to food banks across Saputo’s network, helping avoid an estimated 7,150 tonnes of CO₂e emissions.

The latest targets reflect broader changes across the Canada FMCG sector, where major food and dairy manufacturers are increasing investment in emissions reduction, waste management, and responsible sourcing programs.

In responsible sourcing, the dairy processor said its animal welfare partnerships positively impacted more than 35,500 people through collaborations including the Dairyland Initiative at the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine and a newer partnership involving the University of Melbourne and Dairy Australia.

Saputo also reported progress in workforce diversity and safety performance. The proportion of women in senior leadership roles increased from 24% in FY24 to 30% by the end of FY26.

The company added that both its Total Injury Frequency Rate and Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate improved by 6% compared with FY25.

The report also highlighted broader use of AI-enabled solutions across operations to support productivity, operational decision-making, and business performance.

On the nutrition side, Saputo said 82% of its products now meet its Nutrient Profiling Model criteria, above its 80/20 portfolio objective. The company also continued expanding protein-enhanced and value-added dairy products as consumer demand patterns evolve.

Community engagement remained another focus area during FY26. Saputo said 14% of employees participated in volunteer activities, contributing nearly 14,800 volunteer hours through its community programs.

The company said these priorities continue to be integrated into its operational and commercial growth strategy across international markets.
