7-Eleven Australia has formally launched Anytime Media, bringing its store advertising, loyalty programme and digital channels together as it expands an in-store screen network.

The announcement, published on 30 September, gives FMCG brands another route to reach shoppers buying snacks, drinks and food on the move. The retailer reports more than 760 stores and 4.6 million transactions each week.

Those transactions indicate shopping frequency, rather than the number of individual customers or guaranteed advertising impressions. Campaign reach will depend on the stores, channels and placements included in each booking.

The public launch builds on retail-media work already under way. Recruitment material for the business appeared before today’s announcement, so the launch should not be interpreted as 7-Eleven’s first move into supplier-funded advertising.

Its new digital screen rollout has started and is due to expand further in 2027. The company has not disclosed how many stores currently have the screens, a final installation target or advertising prices.

Anthony Venuto, general manager of commercial services, leads Anytime Media. The offer combines physical advertising with the My 7-Eleven loyalty programme and digital channels, giving campaigns several possible points of contact around a purchase.

The format reflects 7-Eleven’s position within Australia’s grocery market, where convenience trips serve a different purpose from a full supermarket shop. A new drink or snack can be promoted close to the fixture where it is sold, with less time between exposure and a purchase decision.

That proximity is commercially useful, but it does not establish that an advertisement generated an additional sale. Discounts, extra shelf space, product availability and seasonal demand can all influence the same result.

As retail media platforms compete for supplier budgets, the quality of measurement becomes as important as the number of screens. Comparing advertised products with suitable unexposed stores or customer groups can help distinguish incremental demand from purchases that would have happened anyway.

For a product launch, advertising also needs to follow distribution. Promoting a line before it reaches participating stores risks wasting spend and disappointing shoppers; an effective campaign needs stock availability, placement and timing to work together.

7-Eleven’s announcement does not specify an attribution method or disclose independently verified sales-uplift results. Those details will matter as brands assess how the offer fits alongside existing promotions and wider media activity.

The next test is the screen network’s expansion through 2027 and whether campaign reporting can demonstrate additional sales across the convenience estate.
