Cibus Tec 2026 opened in Parma, Italy, on 27 October, bringing 1,300 exhibiting companies and brands to a four-day exhibition focused on food processing, packaging and industrial technology, according to its organiser Koeln Parma Exhibitions.

The organisers expect 40,000 visitors and 3,000 international top buyers across the event, which runs until 30 October at Fiere di Parma. They have also highlighted 450 technological innovations across the programme. The visitor total is a forecast, not an attendance figure.

The show covers production machinery, packaging and end-of-line systems, industrial automation, digital tracking, food safety, refrigeration-related processes and factory efficiency. Those are practical investment areas for businesses supplying supermarkets with dairy products, fruit and vegetables, meat, ready meals, bakery products and beverages.

For grocery suppliers, the commercial significance is less about the total number of stands than whether new lines can reduce waste, improve product consistency or increase factory output without a disproportionate rise in energy and labour costs. Equipment claims also need to be evaluated against maintenance requirements and actual production conditions.

International buyer participation provides a chance for machinery manufacturers to meet food producers and distributors looking to modernise production capacity. It is particularly relevant to private-label manufacturers, which must often meet retailers’ exacting specifications while keeping shelf prices competitive.

Live demonstrations and dedicated areas are expected to cover bakery, beverage processing and dairy applications. The wider programme includes discussions of food industry digitisation, robotics and sustainability. The event also overlaps with World Pasta Day activities in Parma and with Labotec, a laboratory and analysis technology exhibition.

For buyers looking at packaging machinery, the questions extend beyond the headline speed of a filling or packing line: compatibility with recyclable materials, uptime, traceability, changeover times and total operating costs may determine whether a system is suitable for supermarket supply contracts.

Cibus Tec is already included in GTN’s Italian food and drink trade events guide and its international trade-only events overview. This year’s opening offers an opportunity to assess the machinery, packaging and food-production technology now being marketed to suppliers.

The exhibition continues through Friday 30 October. The most useful follow-up will be specific verified equipment launches, buyer partnerships or investments announced during the show, rather than treating expected attendance as a final outcome.

Editor’s Note: Based on Cibus Tec’s official 27 October 2026 opening announcement and event information. GTN’s focus is on the significance of processing, automation and packaging technology to supermarket suppliers. Visitor numbers quoted are organiser expectations.
