dsm-firmenich raised its full-year sales growth outlook to around 5% on 4 November after reporting third-quarter growth in food ingredients and nutrition. Its previous forecast was 2–4%.
The Swiss-Dutch supplier’s Taste, Texture & Health division recorded €813 million in quarterly sales, with like-for-like growth of 3%. Dairy and beverages performed well in Europe, Asia and Latin America, while North America remained softer.
That 3% quarterly figure differs from the division’s 4% growth over the first nine months. Keeping the periods separate matters when comparing the supplier’s current trading with a manufacturer’s annual demand forecast.
Across continuing operations, group sales reached €2.368 billion and adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation were €482 million. The group margin was 20.4%, compared with 20.5% a year earlier. Its improvement from the preceding quarter should not be described as a year-on-year increase.
dsm-firmenich features among the major Dutch FMCG businesses through its role supplying ingredients rather than only finished supermarket products. Its food division sells solutions used in flavour, texture and formulation.
The trading update attributes growth to innovation, reformulation and customer wins. It also says the company is responding to cost inflation through savings, restructuring and further pricing action. Stronger supplier volumes do not establish that ingredient purchase prices will fall.
For own-label manufacturers, a reformulation brief needs more detail than a target ingredient cost. Replacing a flavour system or texturiser can change processing behaviour, taste and the finished product’s shelf life. Commercial savings should be tested against the complete recipe and manufacturing yield.
That work is relevant to European dairy processors developing yoghurt, drinks and other chilled products. A formulation approved in a small trial still needs validation on the intended production line before a retailer commits to new packaging or a promotion.
Buyers should also ask which legal entity, factory and delivery route will support an ingredient contract. dsm-firmenich’s Indonesian ingredient expansion illustrates the group’s regional manufacturing activity, but does not establish availability for a separate European order.
The company expects an adjusted EBITDA margin of around 20% for 2026 and will publish full-year results on 18 February 2027. Until then, manufacturers will watch regional demand and the effect of pricing on their next supply agreements.
