Mowi raised its 2026 salmon harvest forecast to 620,000 tonnes on 4 November, up from 600,000 tonnes, as the Norwegian producer reported record quarterly volumes and stronger earnings.
The revised forecast represents 11% growth from 2025. Mowi expects wider industry supply to grow by 4% this year. The difference points to additional volume from the group, rather than an equivalent increase across the whole salmon market.
Third-quarter harvests reached 186,000 tonnes, up 12%. Revenue was €1.73 billion and operational earnings before interest and tax reached €275 million, against €112 million a year earlier. Those headline quarterly figures had already appeared in Mowi’s October trading update. Today’s full results add the revised supply outlook and operating detail.
Mowi is among the Norwegian food companies supplying supermarket buyers internationally. Its Consumer Products processing division sold 84,000 tonnes during the quarter, up 18%. Farm harvest weight and processed sales volume measure different stages of the business and should not be added together.
The company warned that fourth-quarter farming costs would rise from the third-quarter level. Lower volumes and pressure on feed raw materials are expected to affect costs. Higher harvest forecasts therefore do not guarantee lower prices for retail contracts.
For supermarket seafood teams, the useful next question is where the extra fish will be harvested and when it can reach their processors. A group-wide forecast cannot confirm weekly availability of a particular origin, size grade or certification.
Buying programmes also need to distinguish whole fish from fillets, portions and finished retail packs. More harvested fish does not establish spare processing capacity for every product format. Promotional commitments still depend on agreed pack specifications, delivery windows and shelf life.
Suppliers should settle those details alongside the food-safety requirements for Norwegian supply. A change of farming origin or processing site may require new traceability records and customer approval before stock can enter a retailer’s programme.
Mowi’s next full-year results are due on 10 February 2027. Buyers planning year-end promotions will first watch whether the higher harvest target translates into the right grades and delivery weeks.
Editor’s note: Based on Mowi’s results release and report published on 4 November 2026. Additional harvest volume is not a retail price commitment.
